The A P E C Protesters Poem by Francis Duggan

The A P E C Protesters

The A P E C protesters in Sydney by politicians dismissed as troublemakers
As if indeed they are the guilty side
But if the Political leaders of wealthy Countries are such good people
Behind protected walls why do they hide?

Good people from others should not need protection
And though the A P E C leaders talk of tackling World poverty
They are the people mostly responsible for the recent war deaths
And they bring dishonour on humanity.

They feel that people should not protest against them
Yet they themselves talk of democracy
Referred to by some as the honourable but they don't stand for honour
They do seem hypocritical to me.

My heart is with the Sydney A P E C protesters
Since for a better World to live in they protest
The A P E C leaders do nothing for humanity
Though for inequality they surely do their best.
