The African Child Poem by Bazil Hyder

The African Child

Rating: 4.8

All the way from the center
Here they come
Now as we start to enter
Lets start the drums

We started the march
But some went down
Arguing and protesting
Getting injured
Still standing like an arch

Fighting for rights
Which were hidden away
With the hope seeing new heights
But they betrayed
Because it was our day

And we will Keep on the play.

Lovely tribute to all African children who became casualties of June 16th 1976 Soweto uprising in defiance of the imposition of Africans as the lingua franca in all schools in South Africa. Thanks for sharing Bazil. Please read my poem MANDELA - THE IMMORTAL ICON.
