The Ark Of The Covenant Poem by Tor Magnor Solvang

The Ark Of The Covenant

A wooden box, with gold so bright,
Inside and out, a holy sight.
A chest of wood, in God's own care,
A sacred treasure, beyond compare.

Upon its lid, a golden seat,
Where mercy met, both swift and sweet.
Two golden angels, wings spread wide,
With gentle gaze, side by side.

Within, the law, etched on stone,
Ten words from God, to make us known.
A pot of food, from desert sand,
A living branch, held in a hand.

On shoulders borne, through plains and hills,
A sacred burden, God's own will.
Then in a room, so set apart,
The holiest place, within the heart.

It shone with light, a sacred sign,
Of God's own presence, so divine.
Then vanished fast, in times of woe,
A mystery deep, where did it go?
