The Ballad Of Beverly Poem by Orlando Vutete

The Ballad Of Beverly

Dear Beverly, imagine if I could sing
I would gather up feathers and struggle with the birds
Strum a poor banjo up to the last string
Chant every love song until I'm wheezing out of words

Dear Beverly, you cleft my heart in twain
Should I mutilate my body so you visualise my heart
You left me desolate I had to bear with all the pain
I still adore you, the magnum opus of God's art

Dear Beverly, you're in my mind every split second
My heart beats for you like the sea water ebbing
I miss the sundown while I'm caressing your hand
I love you with my existence, you're my everything
