The Bat Poem by Randy McClave

The bat was a very confused creature
It never had a teacher,
So, now it always flys around blindly
And now it's always treated unkindly.
The bat individually knows of its gender
It's a bat and not a pretender,
This might sound idiotic or absurd
But, the bat didn't know if it was a mammal or a bird.
Once there was a great, great war
Between mammals and the avians that soar,
The bat took the side of the birds in the sky
Because, the birds said a bat was a bird because it could fly.
The bat flew and attacked the mammals on the ground
While not making the slightest sound,
In the war the birds were now winning
The bat didn't know against his kind it was sinning.
Then one day while the bat was in a tree
Up to the bat snuck a very old and wise chimpanzee,
Unto the bat the chimpanzee did speak
About turning the other cheek.
The chimpanzee told the bat that it was a mammal
Like the dog, the lion and the camel,
The chimpanzee was intelligent and aloof
Then the chimpanzee showed the bat all the proof.
The bat now understood that it wasn't an avian at all
Now the bat heard his brothers the mammals call,
Now against the birds the bat did ferociously fought
Victories daily the bat had now brought.
The bat now fought victorious and true
Every day that he has flew,
He fought the birds as he had fought the mammals earlier
And he again felt proud and worthier.
Then one day the great war between the animals finally ended
After both sides had healed and mended,
Then they all decided to forget what their war was all about
Peace! they all then did happily screamed and did shout.
The Lion was then crowned the King of all beasts
Then all the animals had celebration feasts,
Unto no animal will a mammal or an avian be a slave
Then the bat for its treachery was forever banished into a cave.
