The Best Days Poem by Jim Yerman

The Best Days

Yesterday was the best day!
It was both beautiful and grand!
We awoke to a beautiful sunrise.
We walked along the sand.

We stopped to take some pictures.
We held hands when we crossed the street.
We planted flowers in our garden.
We made some ice cream…for a treat.

We ate three meals at our table…
and there can be no debate:
The veggie hot dogs were delicious
and the ice cream turned out great,

We watched a little TV.
We wondered about our family and friends…
and as we sat together in silence…
I hoped that day would never end.

Because the days we talk and laugh and play a game…
and then we talk and laugh some more…
Sometimes I think these days…
are the days I most adore.

Yes, as I get a little older…
some of the best days…
some of the days that most enthrall…
are the days we spend together…
are the days we do nothing at all.
