The Bhaluwallah Poem by Bijay Kant Dubey

The Bhaluwallah

Indian bhaluwallah
With the black bears
That he
Bringing in
To show
The black bears
Furred and clawed,
Nostrilled bears
And shining black
For a tamasha
And the boys running after
To see
The bhalus,
Indian bhalus
And the tamasha.

The bhaluwallah playing
The damru
And singing a song
Aftersitting on the ground
And the stringed bhalus
By the neck
Rounding around the necks
As for playing the role
Of a drunkard,
Grovelling into dust
And standing on
After warned by the master
Against drinking and bad effect of it.
