The Black Bear Poem by Karina Olegario

The Black Bear

Trailing in the ashen
Tail of men, the black bear
Prints its unleashed paws
Into the murky nothingness
Of the nothing by the highway,
The waves of wind brush the unruly
Fur of the one traveling
Without documentation.
Running is its solid ground,
Where his destination is the
Unfulfillment of its own
destiny: the muted moan
Of the weak beast, the lost
Who desperately
Seeks an identity, in the race
Of the corroded instincts akin
to the disillusioned palace
Of progress.
