A Short Story Poem by Karina Olegario

A Short Story

His life revolved around
Catching the invisible flies
Which revolved around his head.

But it hasn't always been like that;
No, no;
Behind those dim eyes
There was once a bright man;
A man with many friends,
A social life,
And a quiet wife.

Ah, but amongst it all, there was an enemy;
An enemy as quiet as the wife,
An enemy as invisible as the flies.

The enemy had plotted out his evil plan;
"I will send away his friends,
I will send away his wife;
I will enslave his mind and
I will take over his life! "

So the enemy befriended this man,
And very easily carried out his plan;
Brief and sad was this man's time,
Who gave himself up without a battle;
He surrendered to this enemy,
Which, I must say, fit inside a bottle.
