The Black Thorn

A rose with a sharp, black thorn

Is leaving my heart all of torn
From its peaceful resting sleep

Now I try not, try not to weep

Her eyes were like crystals in the silent night

Clear and radiant in the shining crisp moon light

She was sweet, sincere and most definitely cunning

Yet it always, always seemed as if she were running

Left here in the cold, unforgiving night

I wait, I long for her loving sweet light

Parting may be such sweet, sweet sorrow

But only for those waiting until tomorrow

Tears leave cold damp streams upon my face

My heart left torn, darkness and hurt left in its place

Love only leaves us broken, lost, and mostly betrayed

We never escape its pain until to rest are we laid

Her hair streamed down her like a rush of beautiful gold

That would never leave her, unlike her beautiful soul

Her sweet face was as beautiful, no, more beautiful than a burning rose

Now I am left with only her memory as the cold heartless wind blows

I hope she is now in a better place

She left me here to take her place

To take on all of her worldly sorrows

I pray I see her, oh, I pray I see her by tomorrow

Blood is now running, running down my wrists

I see the scarlet water start to run, the cold takes my lips

As I write this, I am in my last hour of this world’s life

Tonight I end my horrible, terrible strife

I only see red, as I am starting to fade

Soon I will rest; soon I rest to be laid

I will no longer speak, write no more

Goodbye everyone, I shall see you nevermore
