Maybe there's commonality
a complementary pairing
a matching built upon cross hatching
our experiences
our differences
Maybe there's humanity
a tenderness worth acknowledging
a rough around the edges bargain
for some unqualified acceptance.
Maybe there will be less judgment
a kindness nurtured through maturity,
maybe in his eyes I can relate
to his sufferings.
Maybe there is more to our proverbials
to go beyond the provincial Hi's and Hello's
despite our usual
partings,
to delve into the philosophical,
to raise our planted conversational offspring.
Maybe he'll see right through these intentions
maybe it's interesting because
of my silly ubiquitous assumptions
they're suddenly important.
I'm hooked on by this cliff hanging brevity
the isms that could launch into states of hilarity
the farfetched, abridged stories
like a silent white dream - things are different.
I wake up,
but it keeps me pondering.
Maybe secretly I wish he's broken like me.
