The Bridal Boutique At Midday Poem by Raj Dronamraju

The Bridal Boutique At Midday

The overweight girl is getting married
The underweight girl is getting married
And both types of girls are shopping for wedding dresses and sundries during their lunch hour

They will crunch material between fatty fists and bony fingers and be viewed as fishbowl caricatures through the large plate glass windows
From a sidewalk view through these windows, mannequins walk the aisle and don't create life in the ceremony of capitalism

Looking good for female counselors who nod their heads at their respective friends and filter this through their own agenda
Of familial love, of envy, of spite, of jealousy

In the bridal boutique at midday
Red and white walls attempt to bring modernity to civilization's core union
Trying on for size, hiked up frilly gown's train shows feminine ankles that can still kick
