The Business Of Being Human Poem by Deluke Muwanigwa

The Business Of Being Human

Rating: 5.0

The business of being human

It is hard to believe you are half animal and half divine
You don't know whether to be wild
Or to be mild in the image of your genesis
Endowed with enough intelligence to get in trouble
But never the foresight to extricate.
Burning bridges and even homes in anger
Poisoning food to spite yourself
Destroying the environment to suit your limited understanding
Assuming dominion over all things
Disregarding equilibrium
Always striving for I AM
And never WE ARE
Even going as far as creating god
And the antithesis to justify oppression.
And carrying on with delusions
Accepting the status quo as given
Riven with destructive inequity
The earth artificially divided into sectors
Disregarding the connectedness of the atmosphere
So much so that invisible pathogens reset all boundaries
Proving the science of the singularity
Which the faithful have denied
Ignoring nature and creation
Suppressing procreation
And the business of being human
