The Call Poem by Safiyyah Manjra

The Call

Tell me love,
How have you been?
Is it like last year?
Or much better?
Do you still fear?

Dancing with the light,
Do you remember the sea side?
I know you long for it.
Even though it was a place where you once cried,
It's been so long,
The waves miss you,
Even though they are the most reluctant to come and go.

It is not like you to keep them close by.
Everything aches when it is in pain,
Yet these choices you are awaiting the gain.
You are looking the wrong places and wanting the right things,
I was not able to keep you barred,
Sadly you are on the edge,
I'm afraid if I come close you'll go forever.

Tell me love,
What you really thinking?
Is this a game you are playing?
Be honest with yourself.
Stop being in fear.
Contradiction will leave you with the dirtiest tear.
