The Camarillo Ripper Poem by Raj Dronamraju

The Camarillo Ripper

Up in Ventura County, they make a contrast with Orange County
They are not so fanatic and they only breathe on the off ramps
They stay in at night and leave plenty of places for bad duties to be carried out

He runs fast
She runs faster
The couple ducked under the overpass but only one came out the other side
Taking the way of darkness to avoid energetic squares
I want to intersect with you and if you say now, well we'll be out late tonight

And then my square pants couldn't keep with my square desire
And it took the lame lane with horizontal transport
We've got a repeat offender here, boys

He interrupted the harmony of love
He stole the safety of the couch potatoes
The languid lots in homes where they incubate indifference

Hidden from the light is that which no one wants to know about
He doesn't even bother going into work on time anymore
Tonight he fakes an injury and looks for help from the naïve
We'll be there too

There's bravery under sheets of spoiled suburbia
She went to the store for some milk and no one's seen her since
Quick to assume the death of a life that knew no quality
