The Chance Poem by Under A Microscope

The Chance

Rating: 4.0

I'm afraid to let you in,
I'm afraid to begin again,
to toss out the feelings and thoughts that i knew,
and open my heart to someone like you.
I've been here before and I know how it starts,
all those pretty words, smiles, and candy coated hearts.
We'll pretend that forever is all in this day and
tomorrow for us will be lifetimes away.
We'll hug and kiss and want nothing more,
Until I tell you I love you and you head for the door.
This has happened more than once you see,
and I'm afraid that you might also do the same to me.
But as i begin to explain why you and i just won't do,
you look me in the eyes and say I truly love you.
