The Clock Poem by john wake

The Clock

Tick-tock, tick-tock the clock ticks and mocks
Minutes and hours lost
Oh! Look how it mocks

More time lost in pasts’ thoughts. attention locked,
All about you, if not then most
Tick-tock, tick-tock the clock ticks and mocks

Should you shepherd then I choose to be the flock
Should you direct then I will be the cast
Oh! Look how it mocks

As I wake, late, a dream dreamt tells me you talked
But as crosses fill the calendar’s face, they fade not to last.
Tick-tock, tick-tock the clock ticks and mocks

If the wind knew were you walked
Then I would learn its talk fast
Oh! Look how it mocks

Your essence my presence that I didn’t pick
But your presence, far if not lost.
“tick-tock, tick-tock the clock ticks and mocks
Oh! Look how it mocks.”
