The Confessions Of A Foolish Jester Poem by Brayden R. Kennedy

The Confessions Of A Foolish Jester

I write these words, unsure of how they'll be received.
These words are my confession.
I cannot hide the truth any more.
My foolish heart bursts with fear and doubt.
For how could a princess ever fall for a jester?
But alas, I write.
Please know, I am not a jester by heart.
My jester mask hides an insecure man.
A man scared of heartbreak.
But his heart longs for one to love.
I am alone, but not by choice.
I have tried many a time,
But each attempt hurts more than the last.
My soul is ragged.
I jest out of necessity.
For if I don't, I am exposed.
Yet, you have brought a light unlike any other.
A light that may purify a soul.
Your simple presence has brought a joy upon me.
A joy that is addictive.
So please know, my jester persona is a fake.
The man underneath wants his time to shine.
And with you, he can.
I hope you understand my emotions now.
I love you.
