The Cunning Scheme Poem by Kelvin Rush

The Cunning Scheme

Drama and gossip celebrity and profit
The latest mobile phone
Desperate days the waifs and strays
Another repossessed home

The constant torture the murder and slaughter
The stupid average male
Football and beer racist and queer
Ignorant docile and frail

The cunning scheme runs like a dream
Where everyone looks the same
Like sheep they follow through the hellhole and sorrow
Grateful to be part of the game

Two brain cells one large head
And the intelligence of a garden pea
A simple mind in a simple world
It's a simple life for me

We may lack endeavour and not be that clever
But at least we have our own mind
We're clothed and well fed not so easily led
You could say we're one of a kind

We laugh and play dumb and have lots of fun
We take no interest in current affairs
Nothing is real it makes no difference how we feel
In the end let's be honest who cares
