The Curtain Fall Of A New Day Poem by Ricky Lewis

The Curtain Fall Of A New Day

We’ve killed off the future, a bleak and solid plane
A machine tied down, with no satisfaction
We take ourselves through pulse,
through the iron traveling, riding the impulse,
to whatever truth may carry through,
a single glass, always half empty,
and warping my image of you

The furthest reach has never been more blinding
We will go to the sun and close our eyes,
to only return in new mind
All the fission scars, a coffin burning
None the wiser, the edge of a razor
A splayed out life, torn to shreds
Single chance for life, dangling by threads
Fraying metal state, weary eyelids close to
the curtain fall of a new day

I feel, the solar flare, the burning reminder of blood spilt
I negate the others, to far defy the words of an angel slain
To the rest of you, I’m still alive, and it’s a far cry from sacred life
They endlessly watch, cold embrace, dead blue face,
mindless gazing into the soul no one knew you had

What takes us down, a single doubt
Whatever comes, to you its your time to choose

When can I take the notion, impending catastrophic
blessing in the form of a blade
Swinging and slashing and slinging its way through
hordes of men who have yet to hear their names
Single-minded salute to a heated display of matter, condensed into hate
Spun into a web of lies, deceit is no longer the way
Until justice I may prove that your worth is nothing of use to keep
And they will be exterminated, to hell they shall go
Into the burning sunset, may they thank god

I feel, the solar flare, the burning reminder of blood spilt
I negate the others, to far defy the words of an angel slain
To the rest of you, I’m still alive, and it’s a far cry from sacred life
They endlessly watch, cold embrace, dead blue face,
mindless gazing into the soul no one knew you had

What takes us down, a single doubt
Whatever comes, to you its your time to choose
