The Darkest Dream Poem by alan brown

The Darkest Dream

Rating: 0.5

The Darkness all around me
had opened up my mind.
For I could only wounder
what dreams I had to find.

They took me to places of splendor
and caverns deep within the land
But the ones I could remember
I could never understand.

I dreamed of wars and heroics
and seas with distant sands.
But never of the dangers
that I had in my own hands.

I left the land of plenty
and gave up my own home.
But still I dream of places
that I had never known.

Id taken to my lonely bed
as life had pasted me by.
Trying to remember
the past in my minds eye.

But I had now forgotten
the life Id used to lead.
And gave up all my possessions
to people who were in need.

I lie here on this blanket
trying to survive.
But knowing that my life will end
as I prepare to die.

I came here with a want so bad
that I believed in fate.
But now I hold may arms out
as I enter those double Golden gates.
