The Dauntless Brows Poem by Ehsan Ehsan

The Dauntless Brows

THE DAUNTLESS BROWS
The dauntless brows of children
Do not hesitate to ask the questions
Of which the elders are reluctant to answer
Why are we sp ending such huge amounts?
On bombs and atom bombs and arsenals
Why we do not care for the hungry
Why we do not worry about the drinking water
That is going to face a severe shortage
In the coming years in the entire world
Why our education has become so costly
Why it is not possible for the people
To get themselves treated when ill
What is this politics of exploiting others?
Why all our religions are fatigued
By the ambiguous attitude of the people
And a silent kind of indifference
Why we enjoy the biting, killings and fighting
Why we kill the old, women and children
In our foolish battles and mad wars
For our flimsy political and false victory
And why we are hushed by the elders
When we ask all these and other questions
And silenced with a short phrase abruptly
"Shut up, you are still children"
