The Day After The First Day Of Summer Poem by Dorothy (Alves) Holmes

The Day After The First Day Of Summer

We borrowed this day
From the chores that needed
To be done and ran away
In celebration of the first
day of summer...
We were young and in love,
Knowing for sure, it would
last forever.
Ah! The rose colored glasses
Of our youth did not mean to
Deceive.
