The Day In Black

Poem by alison votaw

I was absent on that day,
I don’t know why I just can’t say,
This is a poem not meant to rhyme,
It’s a sad story of my time,
They say I’m lucky to see this now,
But how?
I would be glad if it had not happened at all,
No buildings would fall,
At all.
I guess I can’t go back in time,
And warn the people of this crime,
You can still see the photos on the posts of the wall,
That was lucky not to fall,
Can we ever come back
From this day in black?
