The Desire to See Him Is in Vain
How could I cling to such an absurd desire?
These hazy, blurred edges of longing—
How can they trace the face of the formless?
Yet I tremble at his wordless, soundless voice,
Thread by thread, it unravels his secrets.
He whispers his presence in every hour,
Still, my eyes stay veiled beneath his endless forms.
Like a fish adrift in a lake of shadows,
I am not denied the golden sun's warmth.
By faith, I know this truth—
From eternity to eternity,
My eyes will drink the hues of his beauty.
Why call him distant,
When he stands bare in the garments of his making?
My sight is his sight—
Unveiled, unbroken.
Lost in these visions, I slipped into sleep,
And he murmured in my ear—
'Look, look! '
Startled, I lifted my gaze—
But found only darkness.
I turned inward and told my heart,
'The night is long—rest, rest.'
Yet before the first wave of sleep could rise,
He whispered again—
'Look, look! '
Silence is color,
Darkness, its echo.
These days and nights—
They are his mirrors.
And still, if I yearn to see him,
This yearning is in vain.
