The Devil's In The Detail Poem by Snake Blocker

The Devil's In The Detail

I went after you,
When I should have never gave you my number.
I dreamed about you,
When the truth was…you were my nightmare.

I gave you too much,
When it was cheaper to kill you.
There's a fine line between a diamond ring and suffering.
I crossed that line and got both.

The Devil's in the detail.

I gave you commitment…
You gave me sloppy seconds.
I gave you the truth.
You gave me deception.

I gave you respect.
You hated my passion.
You knew you never deserved me.
And the guilt was your suicide.
Or was it suicide?

The Devil's in the detail.

The first question was…
What should I have done differently?
But the question should have been…
Why did I hang on for so long?

The second question was…
Will I ever find another to love?
But I should have asked?
Where's the party tonight?

The Devil's in the detail.

There's an ocean full of surprises.
An ocean filled with tears of sorrow and regret.
An ocean filled with opportunity for the next "great catch"…
An ocean you can drown in.

Nobody's knows what you put me through.
But in the end…we both lost.
I lost the perspective of it all.
You lost hope…but found your final resting place.

The Devil's in the detail.

And you're smelling a lot like hell.
