The Devil's Pawn Poem by Ifeanyi John Nwokeabia

The Devil's Pawn

The bed is a sacred desecrated altar
Its soft nature makes it vulnerable
Its short term memory brings repeated torture
Destruction of greats is masterminded in it
It absorbs every secret like a shock absorber
Remaining mute to wails & mourns of its meetings
Every resolution on it is sealed with fondling & cuddling.

The flammable flames rituals done in bed
Manipulate the powers of powerful deities-
Amadioha&Sango sleeping away with thunder & lightning
Ala throwing her morality to the dust like dungs
A crying baby at the teeth of death lost her mother's help
No power proves positive to untie tie knot formed.

Why can't we get rid of the devil's pawn?
And enjoy the cozy floor frolicking our innocence
Housing our lone bodies in children's heart
Peacefully plying playfully on each other
Without breeding thoughts of harm.
