The Disappointment Of A Giver Poem by Jenny Bevan

The Disappointment Of A Giver

The effort some one makes for the person they love
is time consuming, hard work and often expensive
they have to think like their love
'what would they like? ', 'what would they choose? '
hours pass beofre the answer to these questions is made clear.

Once an idea is formed the actions start to take their place.
First the searching, Endless nights and day of looking for that perfect
gift that will light up their face when they see it.

Second the perchasing, the money saved for rainy days now being
used to hang hopes of making another happy.

Third the presentation, coloured wrapping carefully measured to
a perect covering, folded so neatly it took four or more attempts to get it right.

and now the tricky part the giving.
for some this is the hardest part of all. More questions are created,
'should i hide it and wait for them to find it? ', 'should i wait till i have to leave to give it to them? ' or 'should i simply hand it to them? '

The moment comes. Your heart starts pounding, 'Will they like it! ? Will they not! ? '. They look up having unwrapped you gift. No really joy in
their face, no light, just a smile.

your heart sinks, your smile starts to fade. 'Thank you' simple as the common word. No thought for the time put into it, No thought for the effort made. just a thank you.
