The Distance Between Me And My True Self Poem by Mohammad Younus

The Distance Between Me And My True Self

The distance between me and my true self
never had any meaning,
for in actuality, it too was an illusion.
The black eyes of my true self,
the eyes of divine light,
always touch the depths of my soul.
Its rain of loving glances never cease,
and the sky opens for me,
as I see through my true self's eyes.

I leap and dance in spiritual ecstasy,
for seeing myself anew
through my true self's eyes.
Through these radiant dark eyes,
I see eternal flowers lying in the Greenfields—
the divine fields, green with life—
where celestial music rides the soft breeze,
and whispers gently in my ear:

Welcome home...
Welcome home...
Welcome home.
