The Dog & Miss Klutchmuffet Poem by Marilyn Lott

The Dog & Miss Klutchmuffet

They were out on a cold and wintry day
When a wild and furious storm blew in
A storm like you’d not believe
As though Mother Nature was driven

Miss Klutchmuffet did her best
To shelter her little dog
Scared and cold they were
Amongst the ice and the fog

Wrapping her shawl around him
Miss Klutchmuffet did what she could
To protect the tiny creature
Out in the icy-soaked neighborhood

The wind was howling as well as the dog
Miss Klutchmuffet whimpered too
Frightened and confused they were
They did not know what they should do

Branches were breaking off trees
One nearly landed on her head
Stumbling and nearly falling
They wanted to be in their beds

But you wouldn’t believe what happened
Just when it was bad as it could get
A handsome hero suddenly appeared
To save the dog and Miss Klutchmuffet!
