The Door Of Al- Tawhidi Poem by Denis Mair

The Door Of Al- Tawhidi

Rating: 5.0

(for two images painted by Abdelhaq Djellab after he had read Al-Tawhidi's treatise about calligraphy)
... ... ... ... ...

Even the space within a door beckons with writing;

the dancer's control and release of movements is writing;

the rewinding of selfhood's unspooled thread is writing.

Even the soul raising its inner cry is writing;

the bird of the voice flies on feathers of writing.

Even the Earth's crust writes by upheaval and folding...

One who skips up hills traces curves of dragons leaping.

Meanwhile eddies of moods make strokes on an oceanic orb;

even the moment of their quiet disappearance is writing.
