The Earth Lays Screaming Poem by Kevin Patrick

The Earth Lays Screaming

Rating: 5.0

The world lays screaming

At every tree we hack and axe
Seeding condos and car lots
For all the wetland that we pave
Into golf course sand traps
And for every continent we infest
With our population bombs
The world raves screaming

The world lays weeping

At all the coral reefs we've bleached
And turned into dead zones
For all the oceans that we've tainted
With oil and plastic islands
And for all these ghoulish tourists
Taking their last chance to see photos
As the trophies for their genocide adventures
The earth spits weeping

The world lays moaning
As we carve down every mountain
Slicing mines inside her heart
To eat its precious minerals
Until there's nothing left to steel

The world lays sickened
When we clog the skies with smog
From the chimney pits of death
And the earth turned into Venus
And there's no air left to breath

The earth lays pleading
For all the jungles we demolish
And our appetites for fossil fuels
For all the billions that light a match
To the fires of global warming
And we drunk drive noahs ark
Towards the fifth mass extinction
We slowly grind the blue marble
Until the earth can never scream…

....this is so true, and so sad our species is so greedy and cares so little for our planet...the majority of all humans on planet earth are so self centered and selfish, they think so little of the earth, they do not think to care for the earth for future generations, for their own children and their grandchildren and all of their descendants...global warming is real, but they choose not to believe....they continue wasting earth's resources and polluting our oceans and air...we need strong leaders from all nations to stand up, and demand change not only from corporations, but also from the lives of everyday citizens ★ to save the earth, everyone must do their part

Oh, yes! This poem carries the flag of husbandmen onto the battlefield. We were created to take care of the environment, to keep it healthy, to let it grow- never to destroy and demolish. We can cut down trees- -but we need to do it with an eye to erosion and the needs of animals and smaller vegetation and we need to replant what we take. We act like the oceans are infinite- -no, they are finite. They have so many symbiotic relationships going on between the mightiest whale and the tiniest plankton. We need to take care of our home, it is all we have to live on. This is a great poem- -the words are perfectly chosen and wield a wisdom we do well to heed. 10
