The Earth Needs A Mother Poem by Merlene Campbell

All around the world
People disagree as if they were three
They cannot share
They show no care
To the people who are in need
If only the earth had a mother
Who could teach these children how to play with each other
Then the kids could learn to share
Like they did when they were weaned
If only the earth had a mother
That could stop these kids from killing each other
The world would be a better place to be
If the earth had a mother
She could show us how to clean up after each other
Then the world wouldn’t be such a dirty place to see
And if the earth had a mother
Us kids wouldn’t talk bad to each other
Because mother wouldn’t allow us to be mean
So if we want to be clean, make peace, and stop killing each other
I believe the earth needs a mother.
