The Echo Poem by Katherine Perry

The Echo

Rating: 5.0

What should you do
If the tables were reversed
And you heard your own words coming back at you
As if they were rehearsed

Do you listen, and try to have compassion for it all
Or do you now start to guard your heart
And build yourself a wall

Now you can start to see things at a different perspective
A meaning now to be respected

It is hard and frustrating to have your meaningful words
Always falling upon deaf ears
And the hurt that it brings now
Seems to be only dry tears

The anger that it brings
There is no escape
The tears that are seen
Still leaves the heart to ache

This hurtfull pattern makes you realize
It is time to let go
And in the distance you still hear
Your own hearts echo

And you know that echo will repeat itself again
Eventually bringing you back to once was a dead end!
