Paternal love and attachment
blinded king Dhritarashtra,
failed to lesson animosity.
Ego, anger, greed prompted
Duryodhana and brothers
to perpetrate atrocity.
So, in the arena of war,
descended Lord Krishna,
the symbol of consciousness.
Encouraged the Pandavas
to rise to the occasion,
remove the sky of darkness.
Hence the birth of Krishna
is essential in every mind
full of ego, anger, lust,
every life full of attachment,
every society full of injustice,
falsity and corruption.
Only worshipping his idol,
with pump and ceremony, but
not correcting the horrors
of wars in life and world,
is never true devotion.
God is not present in idols
of clay, wood, stones and metals.
He exists in our thoughts and actions only when they are as
pure as the freshly bloomed
white rose petals.
A poem on the eve of Janmastami, the birth day
of Lord Krishna.
