The Fall Poem by Juan Olivarez

The Fall

There's a cool breeze blowing today.
It seems the humidity is all gone.
The promise of Autumn is on the breeze.
Football games, the world series, hotdogs,
Over backyard fires of raked up leaves.

No more air conditioning,
All windows left up, during the night.
Cool clear skies, full of sparkling stars.

Gentle cooling breezes,
Wind breakers in the stands,
Comforters on the beds.

The best time of year,
Children in school, Halloween.
Witches flying across the moon,
What a glorious time to be alive, the Fall.
