The Fear Of A Lover Poem by Daya Nandan

The Fear Of A Lover

I have but one truly great fear,
The day our hearts are no longer near,
When we grow bored of each others faces,
And rather spend time away in different places,

The day the bright flame of our love burns dim,
The day we separate and you become my phantom limb,
The day our love changes to frustration and hate,
As we fight and create a storm that will not abate,

I fear this because i simply love you so much,
From your gentle smile to your lovely touch,
Just the thought of losing you is unbearable to me,
It's like drowning in the waters of the Mediterranean sea,

I doubt i can live through a lifetime without you,
I doubt i can live peacefully under the sky so blue,
But for now you are here with me my tender love,
Perfection for my heart born of the heavens above,

I will do my best to keep our love alive,
Shower your heart with love to keep the passion alive,
But most of all, i want you to understand and know,
That i love you so much more than words can show.
