The Feathered Flight Of Fantasy! Poem by Denis Martindale

The Feathered Flight Of Fantasy!

One night, a Christian gentleman had a dream.
He was talking to Jesus!
He asked the Lord for something special.
'Lord, could you turn me into an angel? '

The Lord responded at first with a smile.
'How about I turn you into a butterfly? '
The man wasn't impressed, as butterflies don't live that long.
The man's face wasn't exactly thrilled.

'Well, how about a sparrow? '
Again, the man wasn't exactly keen on the idea.

'Well, how about a bat? '
Erm, the man wasn't exactly thrilled by that!

'How about I turn you into an owl? '
The man sighed.

'Well, would you be happy to become an eagle? '
The man didn't even blink before showing disappointment.

'So, what's the problem? '
The man told Jesus that he wanted to live a long, long time.
'Aha! ' said the Lord! Then the man was turned into a parrot!

The parrot was so amazed at the sudden change!
It took him a few minutes before he could talk to Jesus again.
Then the parrot was able to respond at last.
'THANK YOU, LORD! '

Then the parrot flew high into the sky and surveyed the land below.
It was a glorious answer to a pilgrim's prayer!
Finally, thought the parrot, 'I CAN FLY! '

After a while, he flew back down next to Jesus.
The Lord picked him up gently and gave him some food and water.
'Are you happy now? ' asked Jesus.
The parrot replied, 'I'M SO HAPPY, LORD! '

Then Jesus turned the parrot back into the man he was!
'Why did you do that, Lord? ' asked the man, completely baffled.
So Jesus told him straight away there was a profound reason!
In fact, there were several profound reasons!

'How many gifts did you give to the Father in Heaven?
How many Christian ministries did you donate to?
How many lost souls did you preach to?
How many hungry and thirsty people did you bless?
How many children did you bring into this world?
How many grandchildren from then on?
To all of these questions, you were worthless as a parrot! '

So the man woke up, content to be what he was!
A preacher, a poet, and perhaps even a future father!
And for this somewhat humbled kind Christian gentleman,
Yes, it was indeed a good day to be alive!
Because now, he was even more blessed!
More blessed than he ever realised!

Here is a Gospel poem based on the expression, 'Be careful what you wish for! '

When I get an anime-style video overview thanks to the Gemini notebookLM service, I sometimes want a second version to use on the YouTube video service. This poem provided two videos and I decided to upload both of these to YouTube today. The first video is called Flight Of Fantasy and the second video is called The Feathered Flight Of Fantasy. My chosen female voice for these videos is Sarah Jenkins and this choice adds that extra special magic to the upbeat explainer videos. This is why I recommend such valuable resources to my fellow Poemhunter poets for positive feedback and for future inspiration.
