The Feeling Poem by Walter Miring'u Nyagah

The Feeling

The siren wails
The feeling sails
The walls around you begin crumbling bit by bit
The cool breeze whispers in your ears
The trembling blade of grass reminds you of your fears
The zooming cars make you count days
Days that have fallen away
Fallen away with nothing to show
The clouds above roll
Roll along with your thoughts
Your thoughts caught up and lost
Lost deep in your bones
You swallow the lump
The lump that sits inside your throat
But it gets caught up and lost
Lost deep within your soul
You untangle the shackles
The shackles rioting within
And suddenly, the walls around you,
The walls around you come tumbling down...
