The Final Tears Poem by priscah Mutswenje

The Final Tears

Good bye doctor, good bye
Though it took a while to learn of your end
It is an honor to wave a final bye
Maybe it will let us to literacy not end

Those brains, they did help
The humour made a day for them, for us
In the literature department you did help
Assured and steady to listen to us

Our desperation should turn to assurance
Dr Mbugua, you did build many young hearts
In the lecture theatre, in the corridors lay assurance
in your hands as you charmed desperate broken hearts

The drama, the oral literature, the encouragement lives
Though you are gone,6-feet under, away and far from us
Your presence can never be forgotten in our lives
Our masters degrees are linked to your inspiration to us

Goodbye, dr, Good bye
Your brains were still needed
Your presence was, but goodbye
Your left without declaring what we needed.

Just a goodbye
Is all we could have asked
Good bye
We had no way, we would have asked
