The Fitful Dream Poem by Edmund V. Strolis

The Fitful Dream

Rating: 5.0

The Fitful Dream
I had a dream that I had lost you.
Your famous smile was glowing, it's true
But I had lost you just the same.
How can one feel a chill in a dream
Shadows of a future forever unseen
Regret lingers and delivers new pain
The Fresh Awakening
And so I shout I love you to the morning air
She laughs at me from the top of the stairs
No gesture of love is given in vain.
I lost her to a dream, terrifying and real
Now I truly know how losing her would feel
Here I am, there you are, together once again

A poem about a man in love and an even deeper love discovered by a dream of loss all too real. His life forever after is indebted to one nights dream.

Sometimes we need the everloving stuffing scared out of us to get ourselves out of the humdrum of day-after-day and see again how much our very life depends on our loved ones. When one of them is pulled away from us in a dream, or in a nightmare strolling through the front door during the middle of an ordinary day to take up residence, we know then how precious they are. Bless the dream that you awake from and run to your love and shout with joy that she is still there and all things glorious are still possible. Edmund, you have that soul-given ability to touch people's lives with your words and a heart-wisdom to plant in your readers with those same words. Well-done of course, a million trillion 10's and another poem on my Fav list!

That's life. A dream, an idea, a fantasy can transform your life and can show you the way. Sometimes we don't realize the worth of something unless we lose it. I'm glad for this guy who had a vision about losing his beloved that made him realise how much she meant to him and he woke up from the dream a wiser n more sensible being. A big 10.

Your poem says a million words in just a few lines. The realisation of an overwhelming realisation of love. Superb Edmund.
