The Future Leaders Poem by Francis Duggan

The Future Leaders

They may not be seen as the people of the now or held in general high esteem
But great thinkers say for the years ahead they have got what it takes it does seem
The artists and writers in the coming times are destined to take pride of place
For all people they are the most likely 'twould seem of the challenge of change to embrace
The leaders of the future or so we have been told the people the masses will celebrate
Into the new age they are destined to lead with the key to success golden gate
The age of the war men is about to end the times are changing very fast
With few willing to fight for them it does appear that they soon will belong to the past
The artists and writers they will have their time and for that they won't have long to wait
For decades and decades of a better World they have steadfastly kept faith
Through paranoia war men have clung on to power of them many do seem to tire
They only give rise to conflict through mistrust in them nothing much to admire
They may not be looked on as special or great in the material World of today
But into the future of a better World expect them for to lead the way.
