The Game Of War Poem by Binu Mathew

The Game Of War

War's a game, designed by devils born in sin,
Where the two warring factions rarely win;
But leaders who scratch each other's' back,
Gain mutual benefit and the firms that back!

War's a deal by malignant minds in the gallery,
Fooling the valiant brave-hearts in the artillery,
For the jackals in the industry, craving for flesh,
To bulge their pot bellies like a huge hill of flesh!

War's no more a fight between good and evil,
But a clash of the devils to leave laymen in peril!
It's a drama full of emotions, politically-driven;
Directed by forces of market, the profit-driven!

For the fighters, war's a game full of thorns,
But for the agents it's a game to fix thrones;
It's raw deal for soldiers; this new Trade War,
A new variant of the corporate Cold War!

War's not a display of chivalry but terror committed,
By crony capitalists to colonize the unprotected!
Soldiers never begin a war but end it with their lives;
Fighters in flying coffins are like flies caught in flames!

War's a political gimmick played by pretentious aides,
Of the protagonist when fame and popularity fades,
By flaring up conflicts at the border for political mileage,
And to create false pride in people of their social lineage!

War's the best narcotic for pseudo-nationalism
And xenophobic minds that promote primitivism!
It's a thrill for those watching scenes from the wings!
Of the blockheads in streets marching for the kings!

War's an investment for the corporate industry,
Instigating violence and intolerance in the country,
To cash in on chaos as pharmaceuticals spread,
Deadly viruses to market their vaccines abroad!

War's a conspiracy of the corporate lobby to capitalize,
On natural resources, beyond borders to monopolize,
The industry, driving indigenous tribals out of the woods,
And depriving farmers and fishermen of their livelihoods!

A war's never been a good solution; it may eliminate
One trouble but breeds many others to contaminate,
The gullible youth, who thrilled by the fictional text,
Know not that each war plants seeds for the next!

There's no victory in war, only empty boast of damage,
Inflicted on enemies and fictional narratives of carnage.
It brings more wreaths than laurels; widows than medals!
More flag-draped coffins for dirge than dance on pedals!

Blessed are those ruled by the wise, staunch advocates,
Of peace and brotherhood; embrace dialogues and debates;
Disregard ultra- nationalism: Heroism lies in thwarting a threat,
And teaching history's the best campaign against a war threat!

Let's hope for a world without arms and borders;
Hold out an olive branch to love all beyond borders,
And join hands to chant in chorus the song to become
One large world family: ‘vasudhaiva kutumbakam'.

Dear Binu, It's a splendid satirical attempt on the current socio political scenario of many countries. I appreciate the idea of..what you give is what you get through these lines...Know not that each war plants seeds for the next! The most touching part is....It brings more wreaths than laurels; widows than medals! Keep up the good work. Best wishes.
