A father gave his children a very precious gift
And when they received it, his spirit it did lift,
He gave it to them out of love for their own benefit
And he told them to please always take care of it.
The children took turns holding the gift with great love and care
And with each other that gift they did share,
They cleaned it and shined it to make it look brand new
To take care of it they did whatever they needed to do.
The father was so very happy and very joyful
Never not once was he regretful or remorseful,
Then years later the children gave that gift to theirs
But, for that gift their children had no worries or cares.
They never cleaned it or washed it as their father did
Many times that gift was just ignored or even hid,
Once the gift was truly and deeply loved and cared
Now it's out once again to be repaired.
The children kept the gift filthy and full of grime
To beautify it they refused to even spend one dime,
Now they ignored the gift and they have taken it for granted
No more to them is it enchanted.
Now they gave it back to the father to fix the gift again
And he did with a saddened grin,
Now every time that they break it or ignore it once more
They are knocking and pleading at their fathers door.
God looks at the earth with all of its pollution
We all know that climate change is real and we have the solution,
Once the earth was treated as the greatest gift man ever had
Which made the father very happy and grateful and glad.
Now our mishandled world is polluted and has climate change
From Mother Nature we are now estrange,
Now we ask our father God will our earth will he please mend
No! He might say, because it's a gift and not for him to tend.
