The Gift Poem by Edward Hester

The Gift

Dawn of my Heart
When first we met,
I recognized you!

I remembered!
When we were first formed,
We were One Soul.

Through Time and Ages past,
We lived separate lives.
First me, then you.

Yet Time again and again
Through the years,
We found one another.

Together we stand in this Ancient Circle;
Your hand in my hand.
One heart beating.

With each breath you take,
My Heart beats.
With each kiss you give,
my Heart sings.

In your sweet form, the Moon primordial rises.
Soft breath.
Gentle rhythms.

Your Love dancing with my Will
Your Darkness enfolding my Brightness
Your Ocean tempering my Fire.

In you, I find Balance.

Will wed to Love.
Purpose wed to Understanding
Joy wed to Sorrow.

God’s Gift to me
In you, I find fulfillment.
Thee I love.
