Pay no attention to the girl behind the curtain
She's only insecure, anxious and uncertain
She hides the way she really feels by giggling and flirtin'
Hoping no one pays attention to the girl behind the curtain
Pay no attention to the way she plays along
To cover how she doesn't really know what's going on
Looking to the others to make sure she gets it right
Wishing interacting wasn't always such a fight
Pay no attention to her slowness on the uptake
When someone says something and her reaction seems to be
fake
'Cause she kind of doesn't get it, but she wants to fit in with
the crowd
She hopes no one will notice if her laughter's kind of overloud
Pay no attention to her overwrought anxiety
She wants so much to be a part of this society
But she doesn't really know what's right or how she is
perceived
It's hard for her to make real friends when she doesn't know
who to be
Pay no attention to the fact that I'm this girl
I try to hide my nervousness when I go into the world
I know I'm different than my friends but I try to hide it all
I'm scared that if you look too close, my pretenses will fall
So pay no attention to the girl behind the curtain
She's only insecure, anxious and uncertain
She hides the way she really feels by giggling and flirtin'
Hoping no one pays attention to the girl behind the curtain
