The Girl Who Thought She Was God Poem by Paula Glynn

The Girl Who Thought She Was God

I once knew a girl who thought she was God:
She didn't preach the bible
She didn't offer new information
Or even mention psychic predictions
She didn't give sight to the blind
She didn't give sound to the deaf
She didn't even raise the dead:

But she believed she was God
That she was wise and all knowing
She knew everything yet shared little
Letting people decide for themselves
Letting people learn for themselves
Guiding them along a wise path
Without strange religious habits,

Or worshipping false gods
Without believing the fakes
Or even asking for money
She was simply an all knowing girl
That wasn't a president
That wasn't a monk or a nun
That wasn't a fanatic preacher.

Instead a smart and respectful teacher
And she called herself Sati
An ancient name: a name the ancients recognise
A holy name the wise bow down to
With happiness to live in her kingdom
The earth Sati's everlasting paradise
Every human on earth telling their story.

And Sati is selfless in her approach
A girl that is too strong to be provoked
Instead loving and forgiving the guilty
Respectful of confused freewill
Knowing time older than ever imagined
Seeing through the stars of the universe
But always loving the precious earth first.
