The Great Sun Machine Poem by Ricky Lewis

The Great Sun Machine

Great watching god above, far but brightening
Simply staring at the speck of sand spinning
Millions of years of treacherous masquerade
Knowing not that our sun is alien made

Light fades out, shiny gears and cogs spin
Hydraulic wings and arms, godlike mechanism
The dawn of a new day, the dusk of an old race
Turned to cosmic vapor, suspended in space

Traveling through galaxies, eating and feeding
Sentient misery fuels its merciless tempest

The once reliable protector, furnace and provider
Transform into a deadly weapon, the final decider
Through space, inhaling planets and moons
Self sustaining grand consumer shall leave no ruins

Traveling through galaxies, eating and feeding
Sentient misery fuels its merciless tempest

Furious tyrant, from exordium to extermination
Unstoppable havoc, toppling empires and creation
Beyond salvation, agonizing seconds are not heard
Over utterance of final thoughts 'I have conquered'
