The Greatness Of A King (By St. Thiruvalluvar In Tamil) Poem by Rajendran Muthiah

The Greatness Of A King (By St. Thiruvalluvar In Tamil)

381.An army, citizens, grains, ministers, friends and the fortress
are the six things owns a ruler, a lion among the kings.
382.Courage, a liberal hand, wisdom and energy are the four
undiminishing qualities which make a great king.
383.Alertness, learning and courage are the three traits
must be present in the ruler of a country.
384.Faultless virtue, restraint of vices and steadfast honour
Are the qualities of a supreme king.
385.Creating avenues for revenues, storing, guarding and
sharing the wealth are the marks of a capable king.
386.If a king is easy to access and speaks not harsh words
the whole world exalts his country.
387.If a king speaks pleasant words, gives and protects all,
the world applauds and abides by his commands.
388.The king who guards his country with justifiable means
will be adored as the god of the people.
389.The king bearing bitter words to ears will be the umbrella
beneath which lives stable the whole world.
390.He is the light among the kings who has features
of beneficence, mercy, justice and guarding the citizens.
