The Gullible Poem by Francis Duggan

The Gullible

The World is full of gullible people they believe everything that they hear
They believe every word of Government propagandists and they live in their cocoons of fear
The Government know that 'tis a good vote catcher when they talk of security for the State
And for them 'tis a mighty power weapon if widespread fear they can create.

Fear amongst the gullible population who believe everything that they say
To lie to them seems to come easy and lying for them seems to pay
On National elections they are returned to office deception for them seems to work every time
And if they are caught out on a few lies the gullible overlook their small crime

The gullible are ruling the Nation who Governs 'tis they who decide
Any dream of an Earthly Utopia by them it is always destroyed
They sing of war and of war heroes and the terrorists they do despise
But that war and terror are closely related is a thing they don't seem to realize.

The World is full of gullible people that's why we have terrorism and war
The power hungry retain power by deception that's how gullible all of us are
The people who Govern the Nation photos of them I do not wish to see
And if I say they are not to be trusted then what does that say about me?
